The Essentials of Time Management (It’s NOT the Supplies)

from:

Office supplies are fun to play (or work) with but it takes much more than office supplies, PDA’s, or computers to manage time wisely. You can purchase calendars, day books, and time management software all day long but unless you’re committed to effective time management, none of that will matter.

Before you can manage your time wisely and effectively, you’ll need to assess just what it is you’re trying to accomplish. How many hours will you be working per week or per day and what is it you want to accomplish? After you write down everything you need to get done, then you can look at your schedule and block out the time you’ll need for each task.

Time management is an important element of the Internet marketer’s success. Without it, you’ll likely find yourself swimming in water over your head, losing sales, and putting customers off. That can spell disaster for both the beginning and seasoned Internet marketer. Just don’t get caught up in thinking that supplies and software will manage your time for you. They won’t.

Keeping Costs Down

If you need to keep costs down, and most of us do, you may find that you don’t need any special supplies at all in order to manage your time. After all, if you’re an Internet marketer, you already have a computer and most likely have everything you really need right at your fingertips. Since a daily to do list and the right attitude are the most important components of time management, you have everything you need at the outset.

Another Time Management Tool

If you have multiple email addresses, you can save a lot of time by having all of your email accounts routed to one email address. While Microsoft Outlook is not the only email program that you can use to manage multiple email accounts, it is a popular way to do so. In addition, every time you receive a new email, it briefly pops up on your screen so you can tell at a glance if it is something you need to deal with right away or if it can wait. Otherwise, as part of your time management strategy, you might want to set aside certain times of the day to check your email so you are not constantly doing so, which can slow your overall productivity considerably.

Keep in mind that most of the time management techniques you can use to further your business aren’t costly; managing your time wisely takes more commitment than anything. When you consider that time can translate into money, you will have all the incentive you need to manage your time wisely.
